About Southern Star Photography by Emily Slaughter – Emily is a creative redhead from Georgia who has found herself in Charlotte doing what she loves, capturing beautiful, meaningful portraits of people! She studied photojournalism and graphic design in college at Gardner-Webb University, and she continues her education all the time via seminars, online classes, working with other established photographers, and several acclaimed online forums. Her style is bold, colorful, and unique, just like her clients. She loves expressions, be it in the smile of a groom seeing his bride for the first time on their wedding day, the smirk of attitude on a high school senior, the gummy smile of a newborn baby, or the loving looks of a family together. She considers it pure joy and a huge privilege that her clients trust her to create beautiful portraits and art for them, in whatever form is may be. She currently photographs weddings, boudoir and pinup portraits, bridal portraits, engagement portraits, high school senior portraits, family and lifestyle portraits and model sessions in North Carolina and surrounding states.
